Oh, hey! I’m Zuzu. I’m an adorable (if I do say so myself!) female German Shepherd mix puppy, estimated to be about 4 months old.

I was found running down Chimney Rock with a broken shoelace around my neck. Lucky for me, some nice people rescued me and promised to find me a wonderful home.

I get along well with the children in my foster home, who are ages 5 and 2 1/2. However, I am teething; so I might not be the ideal pet for younger children until I am a little older and have learned my manners. I’m also good with other dogs, and curious about cats. I’m smart too! I am quickly learning basic commands such as “sit.”

Stewie is a playful, cuddly 26-pound pup with fur as soft as a bunny. He lived a portion of his life tied up to a makeshift shelter with a heavy chain But you wouldn’t know because he is as sweet as they come! He rolled right over on his back and wagged his tail as he was being taken off his chain and tether.

He loves to run and give his foster family kisses. Can you help Stewie find his forever home?

Hello, hello! My name is Sugar. I think my foster family named me that because I am as sweet as can be!

I am a female Jack Russell-Shepherd mix, 1-2 years-old, a fast-learner, very playful, and easy-to-train. My fosters say I am very smart, loving, energetic, friendly, and inquisitive. My fosters’ house has this thing called a cat and I am interested in getting to know him, but he’s not so sure about me. I LOVE to fetch any toys when thrown!

Does your house sound like somewhere I would fit in??? Have your people, call my people. ☎️

Meet spunky but oh-so-sweet, Lulu! She loves playing with her foster siblings, especially when teddies are involved. She won’t miss the opportunity for snuggling and belly scratches either.

Lulu is very smart and already knows to sit before she gets her food and treats. She loves her walks and is almost potty-trained using the pee pads at night.

She is great around kids, and she showers them with kisses.

Jolie | Dog - Female

Hello, I'm Jolie!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Terrier mix

  • Age: 4 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Size: 30 pounds

  • Color: White, tan

  • Heartworm Status: Neg

< Return to listings

Jolie is a 4-year-old terrier mix weighing in at a perfect 30 lbs. Jolie has an old leg injury from her puppy days that makes an active lifestyle out of the question, but that’s okay because this sweet girl loves nothing more than to curl up with her favorite person.

She’s good with other dogs and likes to play, but she is happiest in the company of her people.

When Jolie is feeling playful, she enjoys a little razz with another calm pup. But mostly this zen cutie prefers the quiet life and likes to kick back and get a good belly rub. Jolie’s not a fan of the kitties she’s met, but she does enjoy the company of older, gentle kids.

Danielle | Dog - Female

Hello, I'm Danielle!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: German Shepherd mix

  • Age: 6 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Size: 44 pounds

  • Color: Black and brown

  • Heartworm Status: Pos

< Return to listings

My name is Danielle, but my foster family calls me Dani for short. I’m a Shepherd mix who is estimated to be 6 years old.

I have shown my foster family that I know how to sit and shake and how much I love to just lay around. They keep saying I am a chill dog, but I don’t think I am that cold. :) In fact, I am very warm and loving. I love to greet everyone with my whole body shaking and give lots of kisses to my human foster siblings and foster mama. I will enter my crate and lay down when asked to do so, and I go there throughout the day if I want to be alone.

I love the bones my foster family gives me; when my foster brother growls at me for my bone, I will give it to him and go find another one, even though he is about a third my size.

I like to be outside with my other foster brothers and sister just lay on the porch and enjoy the fresh air. I always let my foster family know when I need to go outside, and I haven’t had any accidents in their house. I did have one at the vet office, though; I figured they would need the sample anyway. :)

I am learning the leash and my foster dad says I like to smell EVERY smell on a walk. I have discovered the family cats and though I haven’t decided fully what they are, I sniff them when they are on the stairs and chase them when they run from me; not sure what I will do if I ever catch one since they like to smack me on my nose when I am sniffing them.

Penny girl is as sweet as they come! She was found living on a construction site where the workers commented on her sweet, calm demeanor. She is one of the easiest dogs we've come across - she's house trained, crate trained, and entertains herself.

Penny likes to play with her foster siblings, go on walks, be outside, and hang out with her family. She can be shy but will adapt to the energy/activity level in your household and gain confidence from her furry siblings.

Chico | Dog - Male

Hello, I'm Chico!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Chihuahua

  • Age: 1 yr

  • Gender: Male

  • Size: 8 lbs

  • Color: Black, white

  • Heartworm Status: Neg

< Return to listings

Hello, they call me Chico. I am a whopping 8 pounds of fun. The vet thinks I am about a year old.

I love playing with my doggy foster siblings, and I am very interested in all the kids who come over to play. I earn my keep by protecting the yard and home from all invaders – especially those pesky squirrels running along the fence and tree tops. I am working on my doggy door mastery and I am crate-trained.

I like my cozy little space and warm blankets. Oh and toys.. I love toys… fluffy ones, squeaky ones, bouncy ones.. just all of them. Still trying to figure out how to tell which ones are for me and which was are for my humans.

I am a bit skittish around new people – it was a rough road to get here. I spent weeks on the street fending for myself. But I am awfully thankful for my foster mom and her son. I try to show them with all the snuggles and kisses they can handle. I think I would do best in a home with other pups who could show me the ropes. And also to have playmates. I love a good game of chase and tug-o-war. When I tucker out, I just need a quick nap and I can go at it again.

I like kids as long as they are not too wild… I prefer to be the wild one. I am working on my basic commands, but I totally understand when you tell me to go to my crate.

Harley | Dog - Male

Hello, I'm Harley!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Chihuahua mix

Harley is the perfect family dog! This playful 1-year-old Chihuahua mix is 17 pounds of pure sweetness. He’s a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. Harley likes to play fetch, chew on bully sticks and love on anyone that will let him! He’s a curious boy that loves to explore on long walks. Harley doesn’t mind his crate and sleeps through the night.

This sweet boy is heartworm negative, neutered and up to date on his vetting. Harley would do great in a house with other pups around his size that he can play with.

Addison | Dog - Female

Hello, I'm Addison!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Chihuahua

  • Age: 5 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Size: 16 lbs

  • Color: Tan

  • Heartworm Status: Pos

Addison is a female, chihuahua. Her favorite things are: belly rubs, snuggles, and treats.

She is a medium-energy pup who loves to snuggle under blankets next to her people. She is respectful of the cat and gives him a wide berth. Her reaction to other dogs varies. Addison is shy with strangers and scared if she is approached too quickly.

Addison really loves to be with her people, and follows her foster family humans around the house. She has a bit of an attitude about being alone but has gotten used to sleeping by herself. She is working on potty training. She would do best in a home with no children or older children.

Kali | Dog - Female

Hello, I'm Kali!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever mix

  • Age: 1-1.5 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Size: 45 lbs

  • Color: Tan

  • Heartworm Status: Neg

< Return to listings

Kali is a shepherd/lab mix who was emaciated and injured when she was found in found. Today, she is healthy and happy! In fact, she is a clown! When her foster mom comes home from work, Kali is uncontrollably wiggly and kissy.

Kali loves her foster siblings. She often sleeps with her feet up in the air, and will go after a ball and bring it back, but she will always give the ball to another dog once retrieved so they can all be a part of the fun! She is kennel trained, will sit for treats, and does great on a leash.

She has a healthy fear of her kitty foster siblings, and does well with calm children. She can be nervous when meeting new people and animals - but warms up quickly with some patience.

Teagan | Dog - Female

Hello, I'm Teagan!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Poodle mix

  • Age: 3 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Size: 26 lbs

  • Color: Black, white

  • Heartworm Status: Neg

Teagan is a 3-year-old poodle mix who is very loving and playful. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings and seems to know how to fetch. Her favorite toy is a meatball (not a real one). She love humans and is crate-trained.

While Teagan is a perfect dog, she has some issues going potty. This is due to a damage nerve that prevents her from knowing that she has to potty. While this issue is manageable, she will still need a very patient forever home. She is currently undergoing acupuncture, chiropractic and laser therapy to help with her nerve damage, and she has made progress.

Teagan even has her own Instagram account: @teaganandthemeatball

Geoffrey | Dog - Male

Hello, I'm Geoffrey!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Chihuahua

  • Age: 1 yr

  • Gender: Male

  • Size: 8.8 lbs

  • Color: Red

  • Heartworm Status: Neg

< Return to listings

Geoffrey looks like a Dr. Seuss character and has the most expressive face we've ever seen on a dog. His coloring is very striking; he is caramel from head to toe -- even his eyes and nose! He has super-long legs for a little guy; in fact, we named him for the Toys'R'Us mascot (a giraffe) because of his "chiraffe" legs. Sometimes he stands on his rear legs and waves his arms like a kangaroo getting ready for boxing.

This little man likes to curl up on the couch next to his foster mom and watch TV. But he also likes to wrestle with his foster brother, and play with the other small dogs in the house. He's a smart pup who has learned the sit command.

Geoffrey does well in a crate, loves other dogs, and couldn't give a hoot if there's a cat around. He would do best in a home where he has another dog to play with. He also is good with children.

If you need some happiness, look no further. It's hard to look at this guy and not smile.

Pollo | Dog, Male

Hello, I'm Pollo!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Terrier, American Pit Bull/Mix

  • Age: 3 years

  • Gender: Male

  • Size: 55 pounds

  • Color: White

  • Location: boarding facility

< Return to listings

Pollo’s smile is so bright that we think he belongs in a toothpaste commercial! He wants you to know he is a very good boy! In fact, he is one of the best behaved dogs out at Sonoma’s Haven, where he is boarding. He patiently waits for his crate door to be opened and for his meals to be placed on the floor. He sits and lays down on command like a pro!

Pollo is about 3 years old and has the cutest puppy face. He is crate-trained, house broken, heartworm negative and weighs about 55 pounds. His favorite pastime is running around the yard.

He has multiple doggy friends out at Sonoma’s Haven, and loves to play with them. With proper introductions, he makes fast friends with other dog friendly pups. He gets too excited about cats, so a forever home with no cats would be best.

Pollo has waited over a year for his forever family. He wants you to know he’s a lover, not a pit-bully, and he desperately wants a family to love!

She's a great car rider, too (puppuccino run, anybody?), and loves to be petted and brushed. Sandy is house-trained and roams freely in the house with her foster siblings. She's oh, so patiently waiting for her forever family. Is it yours?

Jax | Dog, Male

  • Gender: Male
  • Size: 54 lbs

Jax was found as a stray with another buddy. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find a foster for two big dogs so his friend lucked out with a breed-specific rescue and Jax landed with us!

Jax is doing great in his foster home and has become fast friends with his foster brother.

Jax is 54lbs, heartworm negative, dog friendly, and high energy! He would do best in an active home and would be a great river/lake dog!

Beau is a very sweet but very timid dog. He and his brother, Boudreaux, lived a life on the streets.  It took quite a bit of effort to finally catch them.  Boudreaux warmed up to the good life pretty quickly and has been adopted.  Beau is still shy and learning to trust humans, but he has come a long way.  He LOVES other dogs and needs to go to home with another dog as he seeks his confidence from them.  With a little patience, he'll make a great dog!

Goldie | Dog, Female

Hello, I'm Goldie!

  • Species: Dog

  • Breed: Basenji/Cattle dog mix

  • Age: 1 year

  • Gender: Female

  • Size: Medium

  • Color: Tan/White

< Return to listings

Goldie - or Munchkin as she's lovingly called - is a Basenji/Cattle dog mix.  We actually have no idea what breed she is, but it's the closest explanation for the curly tail! Ha!  She was found abandoned with her 3 siblings living under a house at 5 weeks old.  But she's a fighter through and through!

You see, her siblings all left for homes in PA but she had to stay behind.  Goldie has a condition called Congenital Lymphedema, predominantly in one of her hind legs. It's very rare, the Specialist who saw her said he's been practicing for 24 years and has only seen 2-3 cases.  She's also been diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia.  Initially, she was on several medications to help manage swelling and pain, but after switching to all natural methods including Tumeric and CBD oil, she is now off all medications and doing INCREDIBLY well-- pain free!

We'd love for her to find a home where she can find that love & compassion for the years that she's got.  She lives in a foster home today with other dogs and holds her own!  She sleeps in her crate through the night and is house trained.  If you think you're the person or family for Goldie, please let us know!  We can also discuss more regarding Congenital Lymphedema and AJL's commitment to help with medical bills.
