Goldie has a condition called Congenital Lymphedema, predominantly in one of her hind legs. It's very rare, the specialist who saw her said he's been practicing for 24 years and has only seen 2-3 cases. After several consults, the vet feels confident that she's a happy, healthy, playful dog. There isn’t much known about the condition, but based on what has been written in journals, the average life expectancy is 2-3 years. As of now though, she’s challenging those averages! Goldie was also diagnosed around the same time with bilateral hip dysplasia. Initially, she was on several medications to help manage swelling and pain, but after switching to all natural methods including Turmeric and CBD oil, she is now off all medications and doing INCREDIBLY well--pain free! Goldie is a sweet girl and gets along with other dogs (cats unknown). Because of her conditions and inflammation, it’s unlikely she’ll ever be able to go on leashed walks, or long walks in general. She also is very sensitive on how and where people touch her, so for that reason we don’t recommend she be around very young children who may pull or tug on her. If you think you're the person or family for Goldie, please let us know. We can also discuss more regarding Congenital Lymphedema and her on-going care.
